BOA Resources lights up Ricci Lee with high-grade copper hits
  • Broad high-grade copper strengthens the Main Lode interpretation at Ricci Lee
  • Parallel Hanging-Wall Lode offers another growth target
  • Completed assays guide the next drilling campaign set to commence later this month

Special Report: BOA Resources has returned 23m at 2.65% copper from the Ricci Lee prospect, including 6m at 6.91%, as final assays strengthen a case for testing deeper and northern extensions of the system at Neds Creek copper project in WA’s Murchison region.

The intersection starts at 173m downhole, with the higher-grade interval beginning at 174m, in the prospect’s interpreted Main Lode at the Neds Creek copper project.

BOA Resources (ASX:BOA) now has results from all 46 reverse circulation holes in its maiden Ricci Lee program, giving it a fuller dataset to refine the geological model and plan follow-up drilling.

The latest assays also strengthen the parallel Hanging-Wall Lode, while branching mineralised structures provide further targets beyond the principal Main Lode.

More than one direction for growth

BOA interprets the Main Lode results as outlining a moderately north-plunging high-grade shoot that remains open below the current drilling.

A deeper hole returned 7m at 3.90% copper from 244m, including 4m at 6.40% from 245m, in an upper branch of the Main Lode structure.

The company has recognised branching structures on multiple sections. Further drilling will assess how consistently they carry copper and what they could contribute to a future mineral resource.

The Hanging-Wall Lode adds a separate northern target. One hole returned 14m at 2.02% copper from 129m, including 6m at 3.59% from the same depth.

BOA believes this lode is becoming more strongly mineralised towards the north and at depth. It remains open in both directions, giving follow-up drilling a second structure to test alongside the deeper Main Lode shoot.

“Importantly, we are no longer looking at isolated high-grade intersections,” managing director Graeme Purcell said.

“The completed program has demonstrated continuity of copper mineralisation and improved our understanding of the geological controls, giving us greater confidence in targeting the next phase of drilling.”

The final batch completes the assay sequence that had previously outlined the Main Lode over more than 400m of strike. BOA is now using combined results and historical drilling to target extensions beyond the existing holes.

A new phase in the Murchison copper revival

The results add to renewed copper exploration across the Murchison, a region whose credentials include Sandfire’s DeGrussa discovery in 2009.

DeGrussa helped transform Sandfire from a junior explorer into a copper producer. Underground mining finished in October 2022, leaving a significant exploration success in the region’s history.

Recent activity has broadened to Solstice Minerals’ Nanadie project and Mamba Exploration’s copper targets, alongside BOA’s work at Neds Creek.

BOA now owns 100% of the 1378km2 Neds Creek project, including the Thaduna and Green Dragon deposits. Ricci Lee lies about 2km southwest of Thaduna, which provides BOA with a nearby structural and geological model for exploration.

The company sees similarities between the two systems and believes Thaduna’s deeper drilling supports the value of testing Ricci Lee further down plunge.

Establishing Ricci Lee’s dimensions and a maiden resource remains an exploration objective.

Preparations are underway for follow-up RC and diamond drilling targeting the Main Lode shoot, Hanging-Wall extensions and additional splays. Work is anticipated to restart in November and continue into 2027, subject to rig availability and final planning.

Follow-up drilling is also planned at Rooneys, where the interpreted mineralised trend extends beyond 500m. Assays from four other Neds Creek prospects remain pending.
